Michael exemplifies the Black Russian Terrier—deeply devoted to his family, confident, discerning, and unwaveringly protective. Affectionate and joyful with those he trusts, he is comical at home and generously demonstrative with loved ones, sometimes even insisting on a lap. True to the breed, Michael is reserved with strangers and evaluates new people carefully before granting acceptance.
Michael is a proven sire, having earned the Black Russian Terrier Club of America Register of Merit and being named the BRTCA’s 2024 Outstanding Sire. He completed his AKC Championship from the Bred-By-Exhibitor class at just 10½ months of age, breeder/owner handled by Christine Robinson, earning his final points with a WD/BOW under esteemed judge AKC Edd Biven.
At home, Michael enjoys tracking, swimming, retrieving, and sampling organic fruit from the backyard. Structurally, he is a powerful, substantial male with heavy bone, strong character, excellent pigment, dense undercoat, dark eyes, deep chest, broad backskull, and correct scissors bite. At nine years young, he remains vibrant and youthful in both appearance and spirit. Michael possesses unique DLA haplotypes per UC Davis Genetic Diversity testing, is clear for all known breed-specific genetic diseases through Embark Vet DNA testing, and holds an official ATTS temperament certification—making him exceptional genetically and temperamentally. His Champion progeny can be found in the USA and New Zealand.
Michael is the son of GCHB Ya Black Beard Iz Chigasovo, TT x CH BarentsNight Fleur de Lis, TT. DOB: 08-10-2016. Michael is named after my beloved brother, who passed away unexpectedly just 10 days before this litter was born. Michael is sensitive and thoughtful. He gave me comfort at a time when it seemed like the sun would never shine again.
